Birds Will Sing
03:32
|
|||
She leaves a perfect trail of tears kept warm for me
I kneel to wipe them up off the floor
And like a million times before i discovered
When one gets wiped there appears two more
Any day now birds will sing and the sun will start to shine
Any time now rain will stop and everything will be fine
Taken for granted but mostly just taken
It’s hard to see from down on your knees
And like a million times before i discover
You don’t get taken when you have a disease
Any day now birds will sing and the sun will start to shine
Any time now rain will stop and everything will be fine

After Midnight
03:20
|

‘Take it or leave it,’ she said from the second story
I can’t believe it as my hopes came tumbling down
What's done is done and I can see it, I can see it now
After midnight we sit by a broken flame
No worries as the rain came tumbling down
Still seen in the dark
The coals too hot to touch left on the ground
The way we walk alone, the forest sound
The limbs above, over our heads still climbing to the sky
In the morning, at light, come and stand beside me
Take a picture as the fog lifts from this space
Here's your golden ticket,
But i can see the fear upon your face
The way we walk alone, the forest sound
The limbs above, over our heads still climbing to the sky

Starlit Valley
04:58
|

Distant shape of the reflected memory
Close to the sky, far from the starlit valley
You were dreamless stars at night
Blissful morning light

White, Red, Black

She was dressed in white to see the sun arise
She was dressed in red to watch the season end
She was dressed in black to see the moon descend

Leave It Alone
04:53
|
|||
Everybody’s catching daisies in the palm of their hands
You know we do what we can
Everybody’s dancing crazy with their feet in the sand
You know we do what we can
Don’t remember, no one told me there’d be nowhere to land
You know we do what we can
Keep on searching for somebody that can lend me their hand
You know we do what we can
I gotta leave it alone

When the spring comes, flowers lift up
Reaching for the sun’s golden light

Sleep o sleep, a place of peace
A sinner’s wealth, a sweet release
Subconscious war, inside to cease
Close my willing eyes tight
Deaf to noise, blind to light
Forget the sting, forget the bite
A place to shut off, I’ll spend the night
Close my willing eyes tight
Rise to see the starry skies
The northern lights, reflected eyes
There was never time for us before to
See the moon shine through the clouds
We walk together hand in hand
These the only hours for us to spare
To share this silent time
A heavy heart, a weary head
A a place to hide from all the places we’ve fled
Where all this noise is put to bed
Close my willing eyes tight

Wishing Well
04:03
|
|||
They wrote in white to see the sky
Watchful-est eye, they shared the story
The heathered sheet, the flowers and fields
Hearing-est ears, they swept away the dust
Hov’ring above the wishing well
The hands of time would never tell
Then dressed in red, those ancient hearts
Dove down to seek the questions of the deep
A robe of black, a folded cloak
The pillared shield blockades the memory
Hov’ring above the wishing well
The hands of time would never tell
When has my day become my night?
When has my hope become my shadow?
A coin was tossed into the well
And as it sank it told the the story
For those who searched beneath the surface

The Man and the Womb Man
04:25
|
|||
She remembers songs he sang long ago
Songs that were light and carefree
Carried the load after all that’s been sold, she conceives
Was it just the click of a lens, a photo
All the hours, the days, the golden years, a shadow?
Found in his pocket a photograph
One that he keeps stowed away
Smooth out the crease, and rolled up his sleeves disbelieves
Walking on trails that their memories built
Putting their hands in the sand
With sand in their shoe they go stumbling through
They believe
Was it just the blink of an eye, a photo
All the hours, the days, the golden years, a shadow?
Sitting on the end of a trampoline
Swinging their feet through the air
Smelling regret from this place that they sit,
they’re aware
